We’ve all tried the worn out resolutions of losing 20 pounds, watching less TV, hitting the gym every day. This year, try something different.

Here are five unique New Year’s Resolutions. Go for one!

Five Unique New Year’s Resolutions

1. Smile more.

Smile consciously, not just as a knee-jerk reaction to someone else’s smile. Be a smiling fool!

2. Act in ways that make people feel valued.

Recognize individuals for value that they bring to your business or your life. Tell them in person, in group sessions, in print…heck, if you’ve got a good voice, tell them in song!

3. Monitor and master your emotions.

Track what kind of comments, situations, or people bring out the worst in you. Develop approaches to buffer yourself from these triggers.

4. Let go of grudges.

Seek peace even if others don’t.

5. Release negative labels you put on yourself or others.

Stop telling yourself that you’re a procrastinator, or that Sally is always late. Nothing will change unless you stop labeling it.
