Here’s an old adage: “All things being equal, people will do business with people they like.”

Here are five approaches that you might have thought of before, but maybe don’t implement on a regular basis. Give them a try.

Five Approaches to Creating Warm Business Relationships

1. Be enthusiastic.

People are attracted by others who are upbeat, positive and cheerful.

2. Keep up on current events.

Be able to speak intelligently on a variety of subjects.

3. Be concise in your speech.

Share what you do in a few short sentences. Be able to tell others what you do so a ten-year-old can understand it.

4. Don’t be afraid to show your sense of humor.

Studies show that humor is remembered six times longer than standard conversation.

5. Be tolerant of the beliefs of those who are different from you.

Really get to know them; ask them for their opinions.
